'The rivers made Norwich wealthy'

The river Wensum meets the upper Yare east of Norwich in these idyllic surroundings, and the combined stream becomes the Yare that flows 26 miles to Great Yarmouth.

For centuries this waterway was busy with trading vessels, some of them of sea-going size, which brought affluence to the port and city of Norwich.

Now the Norwich Rivers Heritage Group is working to make these riverbanks accessible for the leisure pursuits of citizens and visitors.
