Norwich's gateway to the Broads
Whitlingham Country Park is a jewel in Norwich's river heritage, a genuine part of the Broads (it lies in the Broads National Park) at the gateway to the city.

It came into being as part of the planned restoration of the land after sand and gravel working, which has given two new Broads, and great potential for both leisure and wildlife conservation.

Varied terrain
Besides the new Broads, the Country Park offers a variety of - landscape types - characteristic Broadland riverbanks; typical grazing meadows by the river; the mixed woodlands of Trowse and Whitlingham Woods along the southern margins of the Country Park.

There is history too - ancient chalk workings and palaeolithic flint-knapping sites; and the remains of a medieval building which, with a splendid Lime Avenue, once formed part of the landscaped pleasure grounds of Crown Point Hall.
